Have you ever been to a (real) Medieval Festival?

From the 20th to the 30th of June 2019, the splendid village of Bevagna is taking a step back in time with "The Gaite Market".

For ten days the city is going to plunge into the medieval daily life: the drinkers in typical costumes are going to invade the streets of the historical centre, returning to live, eat and work just like their ancestors.

The workshops of papermakers, candlemakers, weavers and minters are reopening their doors to guide you on a unique journey through the medieval art along the four gaite. The four districts into which Bevagna was divided challenge each other , playing the role that they covered in the Middle Ages and recreating the daily life like it was in the Thirteenth Century.

In addition, you will be able to rediscover the ancient craft traditions, the competitions in costumes and the almost forgotten flavors of the past recipes, thanks to the medieval dishes of the taverns.

The medieval Festival is an unique experience to discover those traditions where locals, from kids to elderly, work and celebrate TOGETHER strengthening their sense of belonging to the town and its community.

And just if you are looking for even more inspiration about WHY you should visit Umbria on your next trip, here a glimpse of Steve McCurry's reportage about this SENSATIONAL part of Italy.
